The Platform

This ruined structure is built into the northeast corner of Zanana. The raised square floor has rectan¬gular balconies in the middle of the south and west sides. Stone piers of a cruciform plan are located at the corners and intermediate points. The basement walls of the structure are plain except for two horizontal projections. On the south and west sides, four brackets support the floor slabs of the balconies; the brackets are doubly curved and have flowing leaf like designs on their undersides. Preserved for only three or four courses, the piers are plain, lacking their original plaster coating. These piers would have supported pointed or lobed masonry arches, but these and the vaulted roof have now completely disappeared.
