Mohammaden Watch Tower

History

Apparently functioning as a watchtower, this massive construction overlooks the approaches to the Royal Center from the west and north. The structure is built into and upon the walls forming the northwest corner of Donnaik’s enclosure. Its mortared masonry clearly abuts the larger unmortared blocks of the enclosure walls and may, therefore, be a later addition. The domed chambers raised on the upper level are reached by a staircase at the south end of the east wall. The chamber at ground level is no longer accessible, though a blocked-up doorway is partly visible at the north end of the east wall.
