Ruined Tank

The tank and its surrounding colonnade are situated on the west side of the colonnaded street of the Tiruvengalanatha temple complex. The rectangular tank is bounded by altering horizontal and vertical stone courses that create a stepped profile. Columns show triple blocks, Pushpapotika brackets, and projecting beams for an angled eave.

An inlet spout with makara head is seen in the south. The pavilion in the middle of the water stands on a platform defined by Padma, gala with frieze of elephants, and petalled Kapota.

Triple lines of columns are raised on a basement with Padma, gala with bands of creeper motifs, framing panels with animals and figures, and petalled Kapota. The inner line of supports, with triple blocks and Pushpapotika brackets, shows single colonettes in seated lions topped with petalled brackets.
